Reality based minor delusional disorder possibly an unrecognised subset of schizophrenia.

Small, scattered false beliefs inter dispersed with reality or real events that are minimized or maximized to support an original false belief structure could all be symptoms of a Schizophrenic type illness that is so closely tied to reality and so difficult to prove as being incorrect that it remains undiagnosed in individuals who are suffering.

An example might be a sister who maintains false beliefs about her sibling’s characters. The delusions are so subtle and difficult to prove as incorrect that this Sister could carry these delusions on, untreated without anyone suspecting that she is in fact psychotic.

In contrast a paranoid schizophrenic may have delusions regarding something so obviously incorrect that they draw attention to themselves and are exposed to treatment.

I believe this form of psychosis might be more prevelant in females because the symptoms are emotionally based.
